Internationally, WWF is one of the largest and best known conservation organizations and education for sustainable development (ESD) providers. WWF-Austria offers innovative ESD programs for youth and adults both in and out of school such as school excursions and visits, summer camps, online and printed educational resources, and various trainings. A long running program, European Schools for a Living Planet, trains youth and their teachers from across Central and Eastern European countries on a variety of topics such as project management, ecological footprint, and active citizenship to take action on local environmental issues. In 2010, WWF-Austria started a non-formal youth leadership and empowerment program entitled, Youth Taking Action for the Earth. This program, which works with youth over a series of years, uses a learner-centered, participatory approach to develop program goals, themes and projects. The youth participants are involved in decision-making and developing and offering trainings through peer-to-peer workshops. The program can be followed on the WWF website: www.wwf.at/ytae or on Facebook www.facebook.com/wwfytae
The next world wilderness congress will take place in October in Spain. We want to be there, but to get there - we want to walk! Do you want to walk with us?
