University of Primorska Faculty of Education

University of Primorska (UP), the third biggest public university in Slovenia was established in 2003 University operates on a bilingual area Slovenian and Italian. The university also aims to produce a mutual co-existence and close collaboration with industry. University of Primorska, Faculty of Education, is national higher education organization. The main aim of the University of Primorska, Faculty of Education, is training and further training of educators, teachers and other workers in educational institutions. At the University of Primorska, Faculty of Education currently has 102 professors and researchers. In the academic year 2014/2015 was enrolled 1268 students at undergraduate level and 402 students at postgraduate level. University of Primorska, Faculty of Education, has executed successful several national and international projects also leaded by Faculty of Education. Latest:
- European project ENABLE Network of ICT Supported Learning for Disabled People;
- Longitudinal study in competence potential of university graduates and a gap between graduates' competences and labour market requirements in technology, education and health.
The core activity of the faculty is to perform the educational programmes within the Bologna-reform: Pre-school Education, Primary school-education, Education Sciences on the first level. On the second bologna level courses are: Adult education and career development, Inclusive Pedagogy, Social pedagogy and students with problems in social integration, Early Learning. On the third level the two courses are – PhD courses - are Education Sciences and Early Learning. Faculty of education also conducts part-time study.
The scientific research of the faculty includes the areas of Humanities, Natural Sciences and Technology, hence it deals with the development of modern competences in educational processes. For this purpose the Institute for Educational Studies has been established as a part of the faculty.
