Unione Italiana Lotta alla Distrofia Muscolare - sezione di Saviano

Uildm Saviano operates in a territory, the inland of the Campania Region, where services and activities for people with disabilities (other than the strictly healthcare sector) are almost exclusively carried out by third sector organizations.
In 1996 UILDM Saviano creates a Social Center for Person with Disabilities,(from 2012 called "I Ragazzi di Andrea"), a place made up of educational and recreational spaces aimed at supporting and socially integrating disabled people.
The Social Center hosts subjects suffering from neurodegenerative diseases and cerebropathies with medium / severe disability and is structured to meet the needs of users and their families.
It allows to :
- Keep the person with disabilities within his family, being the Centre structured in the form of a day center;
- Strengthen the remaining skills and develop new skills;
- Increase and maintain levels of functional autonomy, counteracting involutive and solitude processes;
- Working with subjects excluded from institutional structures and forms of care (the Center is still the only reality on the territory for these users).
Currently several laboratories are active: ceramics, recreational, expressive, cultural and music- therapy.
In addition to the social center, Uildm Saviano is involved in:
- National civil service, which sees the employment of young people aged between 18 and 28 in projects aimed at integrating the disabled and sensitizing to the issues related to them
- Social Secretariat, through which answers are provided to the needs of disabled people living on the territory
-Assistance to people with disabilities.
- "Integrated" training courses
- collaboration with the Telethon Foundation for annual fundraising campaign.
