CENTER FOR INTERETHNIC DIALOGUE AND TOLERANCE AMALIPE is one of the leading Roma organizations in Bulgaria, established in 2002, dedicated to the equal integration of Roma into Bulgarian society. The organization operates on a national scale with a network of more than 250 schools and over 500 educational mediators, targeting key issues such as reducing school dropout rates, introducing intercultural education, and promoting lifelong learning among Roma communities.
Amalipe specializes in advocacy, research, and capacity-building activities aimed at improving access to quality education, healthcare, and social services. Its work is rooted in fostering mutual understanding and solidarity between Roma and non-Roma communities while preserving Roma cultural identity. The organization addresses critical social issues, such as combating early marriages and empowering Roma women and youth to become active participants in their communities.
Center Amalipe is actively engaged in promoting Romani culture through the development of extracurricular teaching materials within the framework of the a freely chosen subject at school "Folklore of Ethnicities". The organization annually hosts a Roma Children's Festival “Open heart”, attracting nearly 2000 participants from across the country, where children showcase their traditions.
Operating in diverse social contexts, Amalipe adapts its strategies to urban and rural environments, ensuring its initiatives are inclusive and relevant. It collaborates with local, national, and EU-level institutions, contributing to policy development and implementation. As a member of the Civil Participation Forum, the National Patient Organization, and the European Women’s Lobby, Center Amalipe has established itself as a trusted partner in promoting social inclusion and equality.
To ensure high-quality results, Amalipe applies a systematic approach to evaluating its programmes and activities, regularly assessing its impact and effectiveness. This commitment to quality has made it a key player in shaping Roma inclusion policies and practices both in Bulgaria and across Europe.
Amalipe Centre (Bulgaria) is looking for partners for CERV and Creative Europe projects focused on Roma inclusion, community engagement and cultural cooperation
