As an associative structure on professional criteria, the ANBPR aims to involve all its valuable members into the strengthening and refining of the policy of the Association. The declared purpose of the ANBPR community is to bring together, around the same ideas and common desideratum, all the public librarians of Romania and to also promote the crucial important role of the library in the community.
The National Association of Librarians and Public Libraries of Romania (ANBPR) is the largest professional organization of librarians within the public libraries in Romania, with more than 3,300 active members, organised in branches with national coverage. Since its establishment, in 1990, this organization has aimed to coagulate, in a form of association at a national level, the expectations, needs and interests of those who, by their profession, interests and duties support the librarian profession, the development of the librarianship, and the development of informational science and documentation and to promote a nationwide system of modern public libraries, modulated according to the needs of the communities which they serve. Through the frequency, the magnitude and the diversity of its actions, the ANBPR wants aims to consolidate the awareness earn the reputation of the most important professional association of librarians of thein Romanian public libraries. For this, ANBPR initiates, hosts and organizes a series of events, seminars and, workshops and seminars on professional topics, participates at several events organized by iti or in partnership with other local and foreign associations and is opened to the proposals received from its partners of the civil society.
