The Excellence Center/Engage in Palestine

The Excellence Center in Palestine for Education and Training Services was established in Hebron, West Bank in June 2011 to provide educational, cultural, social, and community development services to its diverse group of international students, interns, and volunteers, as well as to Palestinian children, refugees, youth, women and community members in Hebron, West Bank. The Excellence Center later developed its Engage in Palestine branch: a hub dedicated to Arabic language learning and specialist community development programs.

The Excellence Center/Engage in is located in the heart of Hebron, West Bank, Palestine, on Ein Sarah Street, next to Al Hussein Mosque– the area under the supervision of the Palestinian Authority. The Excellence Center’s centralized location makes it easy to access for international and Palestinian students alike. With Hebron’s city center in close proximity, it is very convenient to visit municipal and educational organizations as well as as restaurants, super markets, banks, gym, shops, NGOs, cafes, mosques, city center, and much more. The Excellence Center/Engage in Palestine in Hebron, West Bank offers volunteer and internship programs which mainly focus on the topics of English instruction, human rights, women rights, media and journalism, medicine & healthcare, Palestinian refugees, music and Arts, Palestinian culture and politics, Palestinian laws and legal system, Palestinian children and youth. Our volunteer programs were designed to make an impact on the Palestinian community and aim to make a long-term difference in international and Palestinian participants’ lives.

Our volunteer and internship programs were developed for graduate and undergraduate students of Middle Eastern studies, Arabic studies, political sciences, professionals, employees of human rights organizations, scholars conducting case studies on Palestine and Israel, human aid workers, social workers, teachers, English native speakers, non-native speakers and anyone interested in engaging in the Palestinian culture and daily life.

The Excellence Center in Palestine welcomes participants of all ages (18+), who may stay for as little as 1 week, or up to 13 weeks, which is the duration of visas granted upon arrival at the Tel Aviv airport. 

Besides these internships and volunteering programs, the Excellence Center in Palestine offers super-intensive, intensive, and non-intensive Arabic immersion language courses, summer Arabic programs as well as Levantine (Ammiya), Palestinian colloquial Arabic, Modern Standard Arabic and online Arabic courses taught by qualified Palestinian teachers and professors.

 As our name suggests, we strive towards excellence in everything we do and in 2021, we were rated as one of the top three programmes in the world offering volunteer opportunities. In addition to this, we also received the community choice awards by Go Overseas in the categories of best language school, fun and instruction. In 2019, we also received our first Go Overseas Community Choice Award to acknowledge our impact on the community of travellers around the world and we continue to be a highly rated travel organisation with many outstanding review:

Our participants enjoy the opportunity to engage with the many internationals and local Palestinians they meet during their time in our programs, with the Excellence Center serving as a convenient shared meeting space for these conversations. Our internship programs also provide meaningful experiences interacting with and supporting Palestinian people, including refugees in the refugee camps in and around Hebron.

At The Excellence Center, we understand that things change. As such, our programmes are incredibly flexible in case you need to alter travel plans or just simply have a change of heart. As programs begin at the center year-round (with flexible start and end dates), you decide your arrival.
