Tarsus Municipality

Tarsus Municipality is a public entity and established to meet the common needs of residents; which the decision-making body is elected and created by the voters; and has administrative and financial autonomy. We are a district municipality of Mersin Metropolitan city which is located at Mediterranean Region of Turkey.

The services provided by the municipality are development and urban planning, geographic and urban information systems, environment and health, cleaning, municipal police, parks and green spaces, urban transformation, culture and art, tourism and promotion, sport, social services and assistance, marriage, vocational and technical training, support for the development of economy and trade, support for disadvantaged groups, protection and survival of historical/natural assets, sites and their functions.
Our municipality aims; preserving its culture and history, national and international recognized at a high level, attaching importance to science and art, sensitive to people and the environment, developed local economy, the city to be aesthetically provided, unhindered, producing, educating, healthy city.

We are serving municipal services to 339.676 residents but we have defined our target groups as disabled people, young’s, victim women, elderly and needy people.

Tarsus is the capital of a deep-rooted civilization with its famous philosophers and universities established for centuries, the point of connection and interaction of different nations, civilizations and cultures.
Tarsus is a historical city with 10,000 years of uninterrupted life and traces of many civilizations according to the archaeological excavations. Also have an important value in terms of religious tourism with the fact that 3 divine religions is the meeting point. It's the birthplace of St. Paul who is working to spread Christianity. Hz. Danyal is an important prophet for Jewish belief and the grave of Danyal's prophet is here. According to Muslim belief, there is the Eshab-i Keyf Cemetery in our city where the seven sleepers who bet on the Qur'an are found. We are preparing many tourism projects in order to introduce our city both at national and international level. One of them is Gastronomy festival which we organize for the last three years.
