Tandem Associazione Interculturale is an Italian non-profit association founded in 2014, arisen from the need to spread at local, national and international level:
• human rights and the removal of discrimination based on racial or ethnic origin;
• Youth participation;
• Social inclusion of people with fewer opportunities compared to their peers (people facing discrimination because of ethnicity, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation; people with a low standard of living and low income).
Tandem is a group of young volunteers joined by experiences in voluntary work and European educational programs that share a common Vision: supporting the building of a more inclusive, pluralistic and equitable society, where social justice passes first of all through the recognition of equal rights for all, in the respect of values, belief, convictions of each person.
To achieve its goals, Tandem realizes projects and initiatives in the following areas of intervention:
- promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms
- promotion of equal opportunities
- education of citizens to non-discrimination, civic engagement and participation in society.
Tandem promotes the active participation of young people, solidarity, creativity, the development of learning and skills through a non-formal education in order to stimulate the personal growth of participants, by raising their sense of citizenship, inside a multicultural society.Tandem develops projects aimed to encourage young people to voice their ideas, planning, implementing and monitoring activities in their community. Thoughts and ideas from young people can bring a unique and fresh perspective to the planning process. Promotion of projects can change and be delivered to peers and communities through relevant youth language, such as social media, word of mouth, blogging and more.
Tandem, as a member of the Regional Network against discrimination, has activated the desk "No.Di." (No Discrimination) with the aim of offering listening, information, support and guidance to victims and witnesses of alleged cases of discrimination.
The Desk "No.Di." also promotes:
- Information and awareness initiatives;
- Communication campaigns;
- Training interventions;
- Monitoring the presence and social integration of the foreign population, with particular attention to school integration of foreign students;
- Initiatives of "contamination" between cultures.
The activities are carried out in close collaboration with the Regional Working Group (Marche Region, Ombudsman Marche, Regional Health Agency, University of Urbino, Street Lawyer Association) and other organizations and associations that are part of the Regional Network Against Discrimination.
