Sxedia stin poli- Artistic Pedagogic Youth Organization

The Artistic Pedagogic Youth Organization “Sxedia stin poli” (the name means “raft in the city”) exists since June 1999 as a non formal group and since 2007 as a Non-profit/ Non Governmental Organization.

Our motivation is the vision for an alternative education towards social change. In our journey young pedagogists, animators, artists etc. were brought together, exchange ideas and focus on education and communication through Arts.

Our aim is to
- promote volunteerism, solidarity and tolerance
- empower creative social and civic youth participation
- sensitize children, youth and local community on social matters
- support children and young people with fewer opportunities
- develop a dynamic cooperation network with NGOs and young people from all over the world.

Our actions involve
- training young volunteers in social communication and artistic issues
- implementing supportive voluntary projects for children and young people with fewer opportunities
- designing educational programs in schools for students in primary education
- organizing training courses and seminars based on interactive, non formal education
- creating open events, sensitization actions and art activities in the city
- participating in festivals, European projects and international youth exchanges.

Our actions are in regard to topics such as

- Human & Children’s rights
- (Anti)Racism
- Diversity and equal opportunities
- Environment & ecology
- Volunteerism

Throughout our journey more than 30.000 children and teenagers are involved in our educational programs and activities events in Thessaloniki and other cities in North Greece. More than 4.000 students and teachers have participated in our seminars and training courses. More than 250 volunteers have taken part in our actions.

Currently around 50 members - volunteers participate actively.
