Solidarcité ASBL

Solidarcité is a recognised youth organisation in Belgium which gathers young people aged 16-25, coming from all horizons in teams of up to 8 people, accompanied by a youth worker, to develop a volunteering project based on Active Citizenship.

Solidarcité aims to accompany these young people at social, educational and cultural levels. Its goal is to support their personal development and their social integration as Active, Critic, Responsible and Solidary Citizens.

To do so, our dynamic 9-month program (October-June) includes 3 main axes:

1. A citizenship engagement through community service (helping other non-profit organisations – e.g. building refreshing, animation, natural reserves or green spaces maintenance, ...) and exchange activities with people from other organisations (elder and handicaped people, children, youth,...)

2. Training and awareness raising activities (e.g. first-aid course, animation techniques course, meeting experts and field visits connected to different topics such as democracy, diversity, sustainable development, poverty,...)

3. Personal Development workshops in order to help young people defining their (life-)project after Solidarcité (social-professional orientation, self-reflection and self-awareness)

Our Pedagogical approach is based on the principles of Active Pedagogy, meaning that the volunteers are very much encouraged to take ownership of the activity programme by defining and taking responsibilities, proposing and preparing activities meaninful for the group, developing the competences they wish to develop. The collective aspect of this project is key in achieving our aim and goals.
