Social Domus APS

The Association SOCIAL DOMUS was founded in March 2015 in Alessandria to deal with social emergencies in the area: reception of migrants and asylum seekers, social inclusion paths for vulnerable people, social housing and job placement for people in need. The Association, by Statute, has among its activities the training and updating of operators and educators, social planning activities, language trainings and intercultural education projects.

Social Domus is part of the Italian network of CAS, Extraordinary Reception Centers for asylum seekers, activated in 2014 by the Ministry of the Interior to face the emergency arrivals on Italian shores.

Inside the Ass. Social Domus operates a multidisciplinary team with experience in the social field and in the reception of migrants: mediators and linguistic facilitators, nurses, socio-educational workers, Italian teachers, trainers, psychologists, anthropologists, designers and administrative employees. Moreover, Social Domus is constantly committed to developing new networks and synergies with local and european actors (third sector, companies, trade associations, schools and training centers, NGOs, etc ...) for the development of social projects targeting young migrants or addressing the topics of social inclusion and intercultural dialogue.

Social Domus currently works in more than 10 municipalities in the province of Alessandria, assisting and supporting more than 150 young migrants and asylum seekers. It also develops activities in local schools and within the local communities to promote the values of diversity and intercultural dialogue. Finally, Social Domus is also active in the field of social entrepreneurship, supporting migrants and asylum seekers to develop entrepreneurial skills and projects (such as the Social Tailoring Shop "FIDIA" launched in Alessandria). The Association also supports and organizes recreational activities for young migrants and asylum seekers, such as a music lab, a football team and other sport activities, a theatre group, etc.
