Silopi Ataturk Anadolu Lisesi

Silopi Atatürk Anadolu Lisesi is located in Silopi, Şırnak, the South Eastern of Turkey. It is the first ranking high school of the region having almost 600 students with 37 teachers. Our activities are mainly over the sports and art. We arrange sports contests annually, but due to the terrorism in the region we cannot help our students get involved in other social issues.
I work at Silopi Atatürk Anadolu Lisesi as an English teacher. In total almost 5 teachers have experience about Erasmus and Erasmus+ exchange programs. I was the Erasmus Coordinator in my previous workplace therefore I now try to use my past experiences to improve and involve my the high school I am working for into Europe for them to be more internationalized.
One of our previous teachers has written three Comenius projects for the staff members and the projects were accepted. But the projects have not been committed yet.
I was the partner of some projects that took place in Paris. And I participated as an attender to about 6 projects that took place in Turkey and a couple more abroad like Greece and Serbia. I first met with the youth activities in 2007 and continued till today with the motivation I have had through out my both university and working years.
I participated in youth projects in Paris and Thesselonikh. It was related to the Youth in Action Exchange Programs.
Apart from the formal education, I want to involve my students in an informal education that will lead them to be more internationalized in a town where terrorism is so usual. I want them to have an idea about the youth exchange programs that they might consider to join.
As I consider myself experienced about the Youth and Action Programs, they wanted me to attend this activity so that I can improve myself over to get people be more aware of the international youth organizations, therefore write more of future projects with the help of which I can take my students out of this terror area. I want my students to be able to find themselves future partners and explore an environment where they can write projects and be more familiar with youthpass and its importance.
I with a student of mine attended a youth project in Paris, where we were about 35 participants and 10 countries. We were the project partners with the host and the project was so smooth that we could bare spoke our own language and we both participated in different groups with different ideas. It was great to see how different ideas could join together.
I will use the experience I have gained with my students to help them gain an idea about European citizenship and its advantages about human rights, especially in a town where they grew up with terrorism and sexism.
