“Shtëpia e Gjelbër” is a non-profit organisation based in Albania, working in the fields of sustainable urban development, environment, tourism and cultural heritage.
The organisation is active both in Tirana and in the Pogradec / Ohrid Lake region, creating a bridge between urban and rural contexts. Our work focuses on promoting sustainable practices, environmental awareness and community-based development.
In urban areas, we engage in projects related to circular economy, environmental education and sustainable lifestyles, including initiatives addressing fast fashion, waste reduction and youth awareness.
In the Ohrid Lake region, a UNESCO protected area, we work closely with local communities to preserve cultural heritage, support sustainable tourism and promote local food traditions and environmentally responsible practices.
We also have hands-on experience in the transformation of public spaces through community-based and cultural interventions. A notable example is the revitalisation of Tushemisht village, where the introduction of a public art installation (the statue of a well-known film character) contributed to strengthening local identity and turning the area into a recognized tourist attraction.
The organisation has experience in organising workshops, community activities, educational programmes and participatory processes involving youth, local actors and stakeholders.
Our approach combines practical experience, local knowledge and creative thinking, aiming to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for both urban and rural environments.
We are interested in international partnerships that focus on sustainability, circular economy, education, public space and community engagement.
Sustainable lifestyles in Pogradec through local food culture, fishermen traditions and youth engagement in the Ohrid Lake UNESCO region.
