School of Values (Şcoala de Valori)

Şcoala de Valori (School of Values) pushes the traditional boundaries of formal education by efficiently providing individuals with valuable information, attitude shaping experiences, interaction with role models and an international perspective, in order to increase personal accountability and control over life choices.

Şcoala de Valori is especially focused on providing a non-formal learning environment for high-school students. Our aim is to guide Romanian youth to develop as moral, self-confident, independent, responsible and proactive individuals, through a long-term approach that covers different stages of the youth’s high-school experience.

We foster youth personal and professional development through various non-formal tools: workshops on values, ethics and personal development, coaching sessions, camps, international programs and meetings with people who share their life and work experience.

Projects and activities

Every year, we are involved in 20-30 educational projects for youth. Our main educational projects targeting youth include:
- workshops for personal and professional development
- workshops for developing entrepreneurial, leadership and creative skills
- projects for developing domain specific skills required on the Romanian labour market
- educational summer camps

GROW is our most ample project, being the only nationwide program in Romania focused on non-formal education. Based on 4 modules – one for each high-school grade -, GROW aims to complement the education young people receive in the formal environment of Romanian high-schools. The philosophy behind GROW is: Practice, Learn, Step up! Over a period of 6 weeks, high-school students take part in 10 interactive workshops delivered by international volunteers. Until now, GROW took place during 16 national editions in 39 Romanian cities, involving over 14.000 graduates from over 400 high-schools, 1200 Romanian volunteers and over 500 international volunteers from 64 countries.

With the help of specialized trainers, we organize various workshops for personal and professional development, such as “The Exceptionals”, „Think Ahead”, „ME Project”, EUROEDU, ''The career lab". These workshops are focused on achieving various educational goals, such as:
- self-knowledge (values, learning style, personal strengths and weaknesses)
- “soft-skills” development (communication abilities, argumentation, decision making, critical thinking, organizing)
- encouraging self-confidence and proactivity
- life and career orientation.

Other projects focus on the development of specific abilities such as:
- leadership (“Leadership Summer School")
- entrepreneurship (“Entrepreneur of promise ”, “Pocket money”)
- creativity (“Inventica”).
