Samsun Science and Art Center

Samsun Science and Arts Center (Samsun BİLSEM) is a public gifted education institution that provides specialised support programmes for young people with high abilities, creativity and strong learning motivation. We work with diverse youth aged 15–18 who demonstrate advanced cognitive potential, strong problem-solving skills and deep curiosity in fields such as science, arts, technology and social sciences.

Our student profile is highly diverse. Alongside high-achieving gifted learners, we also support twice-exceptional youth (2e) who are both gifted and diagnosed with learning difficulties, ADHD, autism or other neurodivergent profiles. In addition, we prioritise the participation of young people from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds. This diversity enriches our learning environment and allows us to create inclusive, creative and empathetic youth projects.

At Samsun BİLSEM, we believe that gifted youth—despite often being perceived as “privileged”—face unique social and emotional challenges, including peer bullying, isolation, perfectionism, anxiety and difficulty integrating into mainstream peer groups. Therefore, our mission extends beyond talent development: we aim to strengthen well-being, social inclusion, active citizenship and youth empowerment.

We actively use non-formal learning (NFE) methods to support creativity, collaboration, leadership and intercultural competence. Our staff are trained in gifted education, inclusion and youth work, and have experience in facilitating workshops, mentoring young people and guiding reflective learning processes. The institution has previously participated in Erasmus+ student mobility projects and is fully committed to international cooperation.

Through youth exchanges and international partnerships, we aim to give our students opportunities to:
- engage in intercultural dialogue,
- develop leadership and teamwork skills,
- learn democratic participation and active citizenship,
- explore creativity and innovation,
- build confidence, resilience and social connectedness.

We are open to partnerships with organisations that value inclusion, creativity, innovation and meaningful youth participation. We are ready to contribute to all stages of project design, implementation, facilitation, reflection and dissemination.
