Salezijanski mladinski center Rakovnik

SMC Rakovnik directs its attention to the fields of sports and recreation (we supervise two volleyball, two football and one basketball team, organise a dance workshop, workout for children, and use our own facilities for the organisation of volleyball, football and basketball tournaments). SMC Rakovnik co-founded the Salesian sports league, monthly gathering over 200 young people in helthy sports activities. SMC Rakovnik also engages in music and cultural activities (with our own children’s and youth choirs, an oechestra and two bands. We also stage theatre plays and together with the art workshop prepare different art contests). SMC rakovnik successfully runs its own model of informal learning “project dux,” introducing a three-stage programme of preparing young people for becoming animators. We offer tutoring and personal monitoring for youngsters in need of learning assistance and encouragement. We prepare a range of creative workshops, such as crafting and drawing. The group “Bells” is intended for children 3-5 years old. We promote traditional customs and organise different events (mothers’ day, the feast of St. Nicholas, Lent, Easter traditions) SMC Rakovnik also actively participaes in international projects, with over 30 young people annually participating in international tournaments and education programmes. We organise children’s celebrations and oversee afternoon activities in our playroom, which is open 7 days a week. SMC Rakovnik organises a well-devised holiday programme – during the winter holidays, we organise a winter programme (in the end of February – (skiing), and a 4-week programme Oratory in June, drawing over 300 young people daily workshops and games.
