RESU - Reinforce Sustainability

RESU - Reinforce Sustainability is Albania’s first youth-led, membership-based environmental NGO, officially established in October 2022 after operating as an informal initiative for one year. The organization was founded by young professionals who pursued their education in European institutions and later returned to Albania, bringing international expertise and perspectives to local sustainability challenges. RESU is an independent, non-governmental, and non-profit organization, dedicated to empowering young people by equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and tools needed to actively participate in sustainability initiatives, advocate for change, and engage in decision-making processes.
Since its formal establishment, RESU has concentrated its efforts on three core areas.
The first is environmental protection and pollution control, particularly focusing on river pollution, illegal dumping, and waste management. The organization has led cleanup actions, awareness campaigns, and policy advocacy to address these pressing environmental issues.
The second key area is climate adaptation and resilience, where RESU promotes nature-based solutions to help communities mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change.
The third key area, is sustainable rural development, RESU is actively engaged in sustainable rural development, working with young people and local farmers to support responsible agriculture, ecosystem preservation, and economic opportunities that align with sustainability principles. A unique aspect of RESU’s work is its focus on preserving traditional transhumance practices. By conducting research and advocacy efforts, the organization is helping to ensure that these historical and cultural practices can adapt to modern climate and economic challenges. RESU combines scientific research with local knowledge, advocating for policy changes that support both environmental sustainability and rural livelihoods.
