The Association RESIDUI TEATRO was born in Spain in 2011 and it comes from the homonymous association born in Italy in 2000. It has more than 2000 members who participate in the activities. The association focuses its work on fighting discrimination and marginalization through art as a tool for personal and community transformation. The associative activities are open to children, youth and adults with and without different habilities.
The activities carried out regularly are: creating and performing shows for children and adults; daily training of actors and teachers of theatre-dance; realization of an audiovisual and photographic archive; study space about art-education open to the neighbourhood and multimedia room to consult videos about theatre, dance and circus; courses and workshops of theatre-dance and clown for children and adults with and without functional diversity; organization and development of monographic workshops with international teachers; cultural projects with non-formal education; community theatre activities; international artistic and social projects; world music concerts; organization of artworks exhibitions by young artists (visual arts and photography); organization of artistic activities (theatre, dance, circus and video) and art-education activities; assignment of our rooms to companies and associations; promotion of the activities; projects writing; fundraising and partners campaign.
Residui Teatro collaborates with: Odin Teatret (Danimarc), Instituto Grotowski (Poland), Kamigatamaitomonokai (Japon), Darpana Academy (India), Magdalena Project international net, Vladimir Olshansky and Soccorso Clown, between others.
The association has worked in the field of art-education collaborating with: Coordinadora Estatal Comercio Justo (Spain), Fundacion Masnatur (Spain); Caps Ong (Spain), Médicos sin Fronteras (Spain), Magcomunidad (Spain); Cemea (Italy), CNR (Italy), Payasos sin Fronteras (Spain), Universidad Complutense(Madrid, Spain), Universidad Autónoma (Madrid, Spain), Universidad Nacional (Bogotá, Colombia), UAM (Mexico D.F.), Instituto Helénico (Mexico), Instituto Hemisférico de Performance y Política (Colombia), Asociación Argadini (Spain), Universidad Popular (Mexico); AECID (Spain, Nicaragua, Mexico); Centro Cultural Venancia (Matagalpa, Nicaragua); Asociacion Best Buddies (Spain), Asociacion Bachi da Setola (Italy) and Escuela Pública de Animación-Educación en el tiempo libre de Madrid (Spain), Fundacíon Plena Inclusion.
In 2009, RESIDUI TEATRO creates “Centro de Artesanía de las Artes Escénicas”, a space open to the neighbourhood and to the city, where are realized activities that promote critical thinking and art education, facilitating the personal and cultural development.
The association has realized and has participated in more than 19 youth exchanges in the European Union, in the associate partner countries and Latin America; it has worked till now as sending organization for four European volunteers (within the European Voluntary Service program and CES); it has worked as the host organization for four European volunteers under the setting of the same program; within the "Youth in Action" project, it has worked in three Contact Seminars and eight Youth Initiatives, in Spain. The members of the Company have participated in various cooperation projects in Sahrawi refugee camps, Argentina, Uruguay, Nicaragua and El Salvador.
RESIDUI TEATRO has generated and supported theater projects and personal and social development projects for people with Down syndrome (La palabra en escena, Juventud en Acción- Asociación Argadini), Auxiliares Culturales (Obra social la Caixa-Asociación Argadini), Técnica de Clown - Actor (Fundación Best-Buddies), Habilidades Infinitas (blind people and not only, Programa Juventud en Acción-Asociación Residui Teatro).
The organization has established a network of international partnerships and educators interested in the accessibility of the pedagogy.
Residui Teatro collaborates is part of the international net PEACE IS AN ARTWORK and create community rituals.
"Playing the Differences" is a seminar art-education and functional diversities.
