Provincia di Foggia

The Province of Foggia is an autonomous local authority that acts as an intermediary public body between the sixty-one municipalities in the province of Foggia and the Region of Apulia. The Province of Foggia has financial autonomy and it conducts its activities in compliance with the principles of the Italian Constitution, the laws of the State and the European Union. The Province of Foggia actively works to integrate its territory with the European Union.
The Province of Foggia promotes the active and democratic participation of the citizen and the youth of the Province of Foggia, SOuthern Italy. Moreover, it fosters the participation of local authorities and organizations. The Province deems such participation as crucial for the functioning of democracy and to assert the values of the individual. To that end, the Province of Foggia guarantees equal opportunities, full transparency and access to information as a fundamental element of its institutional activities and provincial, regional, national and European Programmes endorsed by the Province itself.
The Province of Foggia believes that the actions provided for by the Youth in Action Programme and EVS in particular are absolutely compatible with its objectives, leading principles and institutional goals. Furthermore, the Province of Foggia believes EVS to be a significant instrument to promote the European dimension of voluntary service, as well as youth participation, active citizenship and the personal and professional development of young people. In addition, the Province of Foggia believes that EVS can foster European citizenship and belongingness, as well as social inclusion with particular regard to young people with fewer opportunities facing a situation of cultural and geographic isolation or economic hardship. With regard to EVS projects, it is understood that they will be wholly developed, presented and implemented in cooperation with the parties involved (sending and hosting organizations, Volunteers and National Agencies) according to criteria of absolute transparency, active participation and a clear-cut division of roles consistent with the guidelines of the Youth in Action Programme, the EVS Charter, the following activity agreements and the specific content of each project.
The Province of Foggia, through its Department of National Voluntary Service, aims to provide as sending organization guidance and information for the young people interested to apply as EVS volunteers or interested in the Youth in Action Programme (2007-2013). The Department can boast of the excellence of several years' experience in the management of national programmes, projects and volunteer initiatives. The Province is also accredited as an Institution of First Class in the framework of the National Voluntary Service. Since 2003, the Department of National Voluntary Service has carried out nine one-year international projects of Voluntary Service Abroad.As a coordinating organization, given its nature as an intermediate public body between the Region of Apulia and local municipalities, the Province of Foggia aims to encourage the participation of municipalities and voluntary organizations through the coordination of EVS sending and hosting projects.
