Pre Stredoškolákov

Prestredoskolakov (translation: for high-schoolers) is a free website focused on providing comprehensive list of useful information for high school students about scholarships to study abroad, events, volunteering and college counseling. Our mission is to inform about additional possibilities to educate both formally and informally. The current problem is that students have to exhaustingly browse multiple websites to finally find information they need. This site will bring all the information to one place.
The first part of the site puts emphasis on formal education. It encourages students to apply to various scholarships to study abroad at prestigious high schools predominantly in the US and the UK. Since some of us have participated on such scholarships, we know how valuable this experience is. We offer motivation letters proofreading and US and European college counseling. We believe that students will take advantage of gained experience from abroad and will implement western innovation to our society after they return.
Furthermore, we want to offer an up-to-date list of events (organized by different organizations) that high schoolers are eligible for and that will broaden their horizons in diverse fields. It includes public speaking workshops, soft skill trainings, public debates and various sport, science and liberal arts competitions.
On the other hand, besides getting scholarships and taking part on events, being a high school student should be about helping others. Therefore we want to set up a database of available volunteering opportunities. We are planning to cooperate with multiple Slovak NGOs in order to bring the most recent charity offers.
So why is this site a beneficial social innovation? First of all, it contributes to greater awareness of available opportunities for students and it helps them to choose the most suitable afterschool activity for them. Moreover, since all the information is stored at one place, it becomes a time-saver for students and doesn’t discourage them by doing an exhausting research. We feel sorry to see youth wasting it’s potential due to lack of information. Let’s change it!
