PiNA

PiNA - Association for Culture and Education is for more than 10 years already introducing innovative education in the field of inter-media arts and sustainable development on a local, national and international level. PiNA was founded in 1997 following the initiative of the Open Society Institute of Slovenia, with the aim to support the development of a civil society, democratic dialogue and public access to modern tools of information and communication technology (ICT).

Our mission
Since 1997 the mission of PiNA is to offer quality educational, cultural, artistic and research activities in order to promote social development based on individual responsibility, critical thinking and sustainable living.

Activities
With our regular activities such as trainings, exhibitions, festivals, movie nights, evenings of physical, static and inter-media art performances, lectures and presentations, courses, seminars, workshops, providing of info material as well as other publications and multimedia production we seek to encourage our surroundings to constantly reflect and critically re-thinks social norms, opening space for dialogue and discussion on important social issues.

Among our activities is also the provision of public access to a wide range of ICT and multimedia tools and the advanced promotion of sustainable environmental solutions. Furthermore, PiNA offers support and guidance for young creative minds. Several now successful artists and writers started their way at PiNA.
Our Youth and Media Centre offers a wide range of activities. They allow interested people to gather and to debate about current issues. KID PiNA's services and activities include: a creative multimedia studio, a virtual meeting point for NGOs and individuals, mentoring and advising on projects, assistance in organizing and advocacy of civil initiatives - all this enables the targeted public to realize their ideas and projects.

Gatherings of people who are active in a certain field bring together knowledge and ideas, which PiNA then puts into a recognizable form in terms of concrete projects. The accumulation and identification of such ideas represents a big advantage for the community as it creates individuals capable of shaping the environment around them.

In 2004, PiNA formed together with related Slovenian centres a network of multimedia centres, since then PiNA can be even more active in fulfilling its mission.

Function
PiNA's function is to have a positive impact on the targeted population and their orientation in the modern consumer world. The main orientation of PiNA is to promote a tolerant civic dialogue and critical thinking, but in particular to promote and encourage active participation in the community. All projects implemented by PINA share a common idea - the social impact.

Involvment
PiNA is open to everyone and promotes equality of opportunity as well as active participation in creating its program and activities. It is important for us that people return to us and encourage others to participate as well in the creative process offered by KID PiNA's projects.
