The Partner-Finding Tool
PAOK is a sports and culture association in Klirou-a local community in rural area of Cyprus. PAOK funded in 1958 targeting to increase youth engagement in community activities. During its establishment, the opportunities for “leisuring” and “hobying” were very limited and available only for the upper wealthy class, therefore PAOK with its strong voluntary network managed to integrate the great values of respect, equity and democracy between the people and the society. Through the years PAOK developed two main departments, Sports and Culture departments promoting social inclusion and equal opportunities through voluntary activities.
Today PAOK consists of 100 active members and more than a thousand ordinary members participating as volunteers to annual activities. The key activities of both departments are the following:
Culture Department
• Participating in National and International Folklore festivals
• TV Productions-dancing performances
• Implementing Dancing workshops for children, youth and Adults
• Organising funding raising activities
• Educational events
Sports Department
• Participating in Rural Football League
• Organising Football Competitions between different age groups
• Implementing Sports educational seminars/trainings
• Promoting Fair Play and Sports ethics
• Increase awareness in sports voluntary spirit
Beside these activities, PAOK became a symbol of voluntarism and humanism due to the aid provided to people with lower opportunities, people suffering from poverty, provided them with an optimistic view to the future enhancing physical activity.
