Ozel Neva Ortaokulu

Our school is a Private Primary – Secondary School at the centre of Sakarya in Turkey. It’s established in 1995. It’s one of the most efficient school in social activities, academic and language teaching in Sakarya. City of Sakarya is at the NorthWest part of Turkey, near to İstanbul so it’s highly developed for its economical situation. Therefore, the city takes a high range of immigrants from all parts of Turkey. It has a more multicultural position according to the rest of the cities in the country that is why we have high potantial in participating multi cultural and social projects actively. There are students from different ethnic groups in our school.
Our school is quiet big. It contains 750 students (aged 7-14) around 63 teachers and it is also well equipped with language, IT, Science lab., a sport complex and pools. There is a big garden around it. We have social clubs in our school which contains especially traditional handcraft clubs and sport clubs. We have successfuly completed a Comenius Project between 2012-2014. We had more than 60 mobilities during our projects. Within these mobilities we show/see that the world is big enough to search from the map but small enough to communicate, share differences, customs, cultures, religions and languages by the help of projects and technology.
We aim to support our learning and teaching process by ICT based systems. Also in assesment practices we use digital materials in order to develop the use of learning outcomes.

In summary; We are aware that education is a “Whole” and we try to train our students academically, in language teaching social activities and sports. We had students who are highly successful nationally and internationally. Some of our students have medals in chess, football, tennis, taekwondo and swimming . One of them is a student with special needs (otistic) and he is the 2nd Europe. The other one is the swimming champion in Turkey.
It would be great to share our experiences with partners willing to make a difference in education.
