Outward Bound Romania

Outward Bound Romania (OBR) is a non-governmental organization specialized in outdoor experiential learning programs for different target groups. The main target group of our programs are young people from all categories. Since its foundation over 30000 people participated in our courses, camps and programs. On international level we are member of Outward Bound International.

Most of our programs are organized in Sovata and they are most of the time in the weekends. Our busiest period of the year is between April and November. We have more then 2400 participants/ year, we are having trainings for adults, camps for children, for people with disabilities, and other disadvantaged groups, we have international programs, we have 3 days, 7 days and 10 days programs. The main aims of our programs are personal development, multicultural learning, project and conflict management, development of communication skills and that of preparing the youth for a better healthier life. In youth category our most popular programs are the 3 day program School of Experiences, Eco Schola and the 7 day program English Camp and Adventure Week. We organize also regularly courses for children&parents from kindergarten and have programs for special groups (deaf, orphans, phisicaly disabled). The target group of this programs are from 7 years old children till 18 years old youngsters. The participants are coming to our programs because we offer an intensive learning experience, because we offer something what is missing from the school. They can interact, discuss, be active, learn from each other and doing this with the help of a different "wind".
Concerning adult education - we are organizing trainings and courses, based on experiential education for teachers, trainers, youth workers and adults, what would like to learn more about the theory and practice of the outdoor education. Outward Bound Romania in the only organization which organizes training of trainer courses in outdoor education in Romania.
In eache year we have around 5 grants-2 EU projects and 3 local projects.
