NGO Tallinn University Student Union

The main function of the Student Union is to represent and protect the interests of Tallinn University students within the University and at the local and national level. In order to do this in a democratic way, different bodies and subunits have been formed.
One of these is the Representative Council, which is the highest representative and decision-making body of Tallinn University students. It’s made up of 27 active students, who contribute to the development of the university through working together to find solutions to the problems and concerns of their fellow students.
In addition to the general Representative Council, every institute, college and academy has their own Student Council which protects the interests of their students in academic matters (e.g. curriculum development, solving problems related to the studies, organizing academic events etc.) and organize various events (e.g. institute/college freshmen initiation, Christmas party, Best Professor elections etc.).
The day-to-day activities of the Student Union are managed by the Executive Board supported by the Student Union Office.

MTÜ Tallinn University Student Union has many clubs bringing together people with similar interest also organizing many different events trough the year– Culture Club, Photo Club, Sport Club,Nursery Room, The International Club (IC), Tallinn University Student Theater (TYYT), Tallinn University Debate Club, Student TV/Tudeng.tv, Tallinn University Alumni Association.

All the 9 clubs are working with volunteers. Every club has one manager who is reporting to the Student Union and who is leading all the volunteers. Everybody are welcomed to join clubs. Manager will include them to organizing events and teaching them in the field they are interested (marketing, partnership and sponsors…).
Student Union clubs are organizing trainings for 10-50 people, open lectures for50-200 people and big events for 1000-1500 people.
Student Union is based on volunteering so we are having many experiences with working with volunteers.

Clubs are in different growth and development phases. In International Club there are about 40 volunteers, Sport Club 30, Culture Club 20, Nursery room 20, Photo Club 30, TYYT 15, Student.tv 120 volunteers participating.
The main team in the office is around 15 people (4 membered board, secretary, communication and marketing specialist, education adviser, technical manager, designer, webmaster etc.
