NGO Public Organization "Ukrainian Center of Civic Initiatives "Svitlo"

Within the last 10 years the NGO "Svitlo" has implemented 20 socially important projects supported by foreign donors. The projects covered the South and East of Ukraine. Main donors: US Embassy in Ukraine; IRF; Federal German Foundation «EVZ», etc.

Within the projects, humanitarian and educational assistance was provided to about 5,000 young people. About 100 young volunteers have been attracted to the projects. 500 of them have passed targeted training. These project have significantly enhanced the youth volunteer movement in the South and East of Ukraine. These projects have promoted creation of practical mechanisms of interaction between the local authorities and NGOs in the joint effort for efficient help to the most vulnerable social groups and youth. The projects have attracted attention of the media. Thanks to these projects, there has been created close networking between the local NGOs of the Donetsk region and informal youth movements. The donors have assessed the projects as highly efficient and are planning to keep them going.
These are some of the projects aimed to help the youth:
1) 2016-2017. Project: “The democratization of education in the Donbass region by developing youth government", with the support of the US Embassy in Ukraine.
2) 2014-2015. Project «Development of Youth Self-government in High School of South and East of Ukraine in the Context of Democratic Reforms». The project is implemented with the support of the US Embassy n Kyiv.
3) 2014 – 2015. Project "The Development of Conditions for Positive Coverage of the European Integration by the Social Media of Eastern Ukraine" supported by the European Programme of the International "Renaissance" Foundation.
4) 2013. Project "Teaching Young Volunteers the Skills to Support Lonely Elderly People in the Crimea." The project was supported by the charity organization STAND Int. (Edinburgh, Scotland) and the BEARR Trust on development of the volunteer movement among the Crimean youth.
5) 2010 - 2011. Project "European Identity Youth of Crimea", with the support of the European Program IF "Renaissance".

Areas in which joint projects can be implemented:
- youth volunteer movement (help to disadvantaged youth);
- ecological projects;
- projects in the field of culture (projects with IDP, etc).
