NGO "Nectarus"

NGO "Nectarus” is established in Daugirdiskes village, having its own facilities to host various non-formal education activities. Centre was established as quite unique initiative of four free-lance trainers and experienced youth workers with the intention to combine educational concepts with the specific community based venue. Our key features:

1) Physical place specially developed for non-formal education events. Training centre is operating in the physical place, which is specially developed to offer hosting and management of the various educational activities: youth exchanges, local, national and international seminars, training courses, other educational events. Training centre offers well equipped and arranged space for non-formal learning and well-being.

2) Educational work based on innovative educational initiatives for various target groups in Lithuania and abroad. Members of the training centre pull resources together from their experience and former belonging to other organisations in order to create new and innovative learning opportunities. Training centre actively engages in working with various groups in the surrounding communities: young people, staff of educational and cultural organizations and elderly members of the community. Good understanding of youth work content and non­formal learning methodologies is combined with the rich experiences in managing international youth exchanges, training seminars and courses.

3) Bridging international/European dimension with local realities. Our main international experiences come from educational projects implemented in cooperation with Council of Europe, European Commission, SALTO-YOUTH training centres and National Agencies of Youth in Action programme. Therefore we aim to bring our international youth work expertise in non-formal education field to the local level and open up new horizons for local communities in terms of learning, resources, establishment of international cooperation and supporting ideas of active citizenship. This proves to be working well and shows the first results of positive impact in the local community. With our educational support young people, teachers and other members of the community starts recognizing training centre as an important actor in promoting and supporting various learning opportunities.

4) Youth in Action experience. Last year we started to consult youth groups and organisations on setting up youth
exchange projects. We are continuously coaching youth groups who are willing to develop and organize youth exchange projects.

From 2004 members of the training centre are actively involved in cooperation with partners from EU neighbouring
countries: we developed youth exchanges, worked in commonly organized training courses and implemented long-­term projects funded by the EU programmes.
