Neslegården

We are a small community of people living in rural Norway. Our aim is to create a place where people, animals, plants and other lifeforms can live together in peace and harmony, in a truly sustainable way.

On our farm we practice small-scale ecological agriculture based on permaculture principles and design. We have a vegetable garden and a forest garden, both where we grow a wide variety of crops, nuts, fruits, and vegetables as well as flowers and other beneficial plants. We use a vast range of methods to process the food we harvest via drying, freezing, fermentation and other means. The farm also has a substantial forest area and some grassland which is also ecological. 3 years ago we established a pond. As of now we keep chickens for livestock and fertilization purposes. We also keep bees.

Our work is based on community living and non-formal educational methods. We offer courses in permaculture and sustainable (off-grid) living and activities for the local population in person, but also internationally through online solutions.

We have also been active as a host organization in the WWOOF network. Through the last 4 years we have hosted roughly 80 participants (mostly between age 18-35) from a wide range of countries (mostly Europe). For further information on that please visit our page on WWOOF:

Capitalizing on our experience on hosting international volunteers and permaculture farming, we are looking for European organizations to cooperate with especially in European Solidarity Corps (volunteering) and European Youth Exchange initiatives.
