As a municipality of the Mediterranean, Pegeia combines a number of characteristics derived from its quite historical background (intangible and tangible heritage), whilst a part of an island that is at the crossover between Europe and Asia.
Over the past few years, Pegeia strives to fulfill the challenge of addressing a diverse set of interests and expectations for its citizens and area stakeholders, including youth residing at the area. For that reason, is dedicated to constantly promote a vast range of activities and initiatives including lifelong education, sports, tourism and social services.
Pegeia Municipality manages to preserve an extended network and collaborators of pedagogical Institutions & relevant organizations in the island. The most noticeable of these can be considered: the Cyprus Technological University (CUT), the Cypriot Youth Organization which acts also as an umbrella organization for smaller initiates working with younger target groups, the Cyprus Ministry of Education and the University of Cyprus.
All the above can act as complementary to the workings within a vast range of envisioned projects and provide valuable insights and assistance for its foreseen activities.
Some of our ongoing work includes but is not limited to:
• Interdisciplinary research & analysis into the ongoing process of the ways that education sites respond to today’s societal challenges posed by the variety of influences
• Providing policy solutions for national policy-makers to the active educational sector
• Promoting the best use of communication means for information, publicity and development for the youth
• Elevating public awareness on relevant issues to education and EU citizenship through a variety of mediums
