Municipality of Milo

Geographical location:
Milo is located at 720 meters above sea level on the eastern side of Etna. It is 20 km from Taormina, 15 km
from Acireale, 30 km from Catania and 45 km from Fontanarossa Airport. Distance from the sea 12 Km,
distance from the access point to the Etna North crater 12 km.
Presence of Companies on the territory:
On the territory there are the following prestigious farms and wineries:
– Barone di Villagrande Winery (production of red, rosé and etna bianco etna wines) extension Ha.

– The Vineyards of Salvo Foti (production of wines red, rosé and etna white wines) extension Ha.

– Benanti Winery (production of red, rosé and etna white wines) extension Ha. 7.00;
– Renato Maugeri Agricultural Company of new production for the production of a carricante able to
become White Wine Etna Superiore Ha 6,00;
– About 10 small companies that produce a carricante suitable to become White Wine Etna Superiore,
for a total area of about 15 Ha.
Other agricultural production present, even if in a minority way, are: hazelnuts, apples and honey.
Innovative production of excellence: Donkey milk production companies.
Events:
• Vinimilo is an historical event on wine. In 2018 will take place the 38th edition (it is the event on the
oldest wine of Sicily);
• Etna Marathon in 2018 will take place 12th edition (about 1200 participants)
Culture:
In Milo took home the late Lucio Dalla, and usually lives the teacher Franco Battiato. The presence of these
two great artists has meant that in the collective imagination Milo is associated with Music. In fact one of the
names of our municipality is precisely "City of Music". The presence, then of an outdoor theater, with a total
capacity of about 1800 seats, gives us the possibility to organize great musical events.
Another artistic excellence worth mentioning is the availability of one of the most representative world
figures of Land Art Alfio Bonanno, who currently lives in Denmark, to realize in our municipality an artistic
park, which would blend well with the characteristics of our territory.
Accommodation:
On the territory there are several b&b, Holiday Homes, and a small hotel for a total of about 200 beds.
