Municipality of L'Aquila

The Municipality of L'Aquila deals with all administrative functions for the benefit of its citizens through its 563 employees. Fields of activity range from public health to local transport, to support actions to territorial development, to the preservation of the environment and cultural heritage, as well as the promotion of employment and employability and enhancement of its workforce.
The Department of Participation, Assistance to the population and Youth Policy, working with the University and other local stakeholders, plays a key role in identifying youth problems and employability problems and supporting the establishment of operational network composed of universities, companies and territory. In fact, in its program mandate it calls for economic resources and tools available at the regional and European level for a specific sector called "Work and Development" dedicated to promote the employability. Moreover the Department works to promote the participation of citizens, especially young people, through the office of Participation. Annually it leads the process of participatory budgeting and realises projects aimed to involving young people in the use of tools of direct democracy.
