MUNICIPALITY OF ASTI

The city rises in the midst of a rural territory with hills, famous all over the world for local wines. The hills offer a vineyard landscape so beautiful and characteristic that it has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Asti is a very active location for several events, festivals and cultural initiatives: the Douja d'Or wine contest, the Palio of urban hamlets (horse racing competition), the “Festival delle Sagre”, a major food and wine festival. The Municipality of Asti intends to safeguard the cultural heritage and contribute to making it accessible to all. It supports and promotes the arts and the creative sector. For a long time it has managed a large program of cultural events. The Municipality of Asti manages a rich museum heritage that attests its greatness in the past.
The city has an internal staff that deals with European projects and initiatives. The Municipal experience in managing European projects can be describe as follow:
-participation as partner to the project “CircUse - Circular Flow Land Use Management”: it has 12 project partners and 3 associated partners from 6 countries. It was co-financed by Central Europe programme. The time frame of CircUse was from March 2010 to August 2013;
-participation to the project “LA MEMORIA DELLE ALPI” co-financed by INTERREG ALCOTRA IT-FR programme as Partner - 2003/2008;
-participation to the project “MOMABIZ” co-financed by EIE – INTELLINGENT ENERGY programme as Partner - 2010/2013;
- participation as leader to the project “LE ROTONDE DEL SANTO SEPOLCRO: UN ITINERARIO EUROPEO” co-financed by EUROPEAN PROGRAMME CULTURE 2000 from 2004 to 2005;
- participation as leader to the project “DIKE” financed by EUROPEAN PROGRAMME AGIS from 2004 to 2005;
- participation as partner to the project “SULFANET” financed by INTERREG III C from 2005 to 2007;
- participation as leader to the project “ASTI INTERNATIONAL CAREER” financed by LEONARDO DA VINCI II C from 2005 to 2006;
- participation as partner to the project “LAMCODE” financed by INTERREG IIIC PROGRESDEC C from 2006 to 2007;
- participation as leader to the project “ASTI INTERNATIONAL CAREER” financed by LEONARDO DA VINCI II C from 2005 to 2006;
- participation as partner to the project “BRING UP” financed by URBACT from 2010 to 2011;
- participation as partner to the project “MUSEC” financed by INTELLIGENT ENERGY EUROPEAN PROGRAM from 2006 to 2009;
-participation as partner to the project “MAIORES” financed by ENEA: pilot actions for cooperation and exchanges aimed at promoting the mobility of the elderly 2005 to 2007;
-participation as partner to the project “WORKING ON CORRESPONSABILITY IN EUROPEAN LOCAL DEVELOPMENT” from 2007 to 2008;
-participation as partner to the project “TRAVEL CARE V” financed by LEONARDO DA VINCI in the 2005.
