Mountaineering Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Mountaineering Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina operates with 84 associations / clubs, with 5.169 members. In this, there are 3.907 seniors and 1.262 members younger than 18 years.
Mountaineering Association is a member of the international mountaineering associations listed below:
• UIAA ( International Mountaineering and Climbing Federation),
• IKAR / CISA (The International Commission for Alpine Rescue ),
• ERA (European Rambler's Association-European Walking Association),
• BMU (Balkan Mountain Union) and
• Sport Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Program:
The Union was formed to achieve common interests of members of the Union, with no intention of making profit.

Some of the goals of the Mountaineering Union:
• To create conditions for the development and promotion of organized work in all branches of mountaineering ( high mountaineering- climbing, expeditions, alpinism, hiking, rescuing in the mountains, sport climbing, skiing, biking in the mountains and other forms of extreme mountaineering activities, mountain navigation, guiding service, caving, mountaineering recreation, and other branches in mountaineering ), as well as development of tourism and other activities associated with mountaineering,
• To organize vocational training for climbers, especially of the youth for permanent engagement of hiking activities.

Some of the activities in the Mountaineering Union:
• Education of members in the terms of conservation, protection and improvement of nature in the mountaineering areas,
• Initiation and building of mountaineering facilities and accommodations,
• Establishment of cooperation with other similar associations in the country and abroad, and creation of conditions for the members of the Union in the European and international associations that have the same or similar goals as the Mountaineering Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On the 03.10.2009, Mountaineering Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina became a part of European pedestrian association. In this way, mountaineers from BIH have an opportunity to join at the international mountaineering roads, and at the other side, Mountaineering Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina have an opportunity to apply for the European funds and projects.
It is worth mentioning that Mountaineering Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina have a great role in marking the European pedestrian road (E-6) through the Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was decided at the official meeting of representatives from 12 countries of the Southeast Europe in Belgrade, as well confirmed at the 42nd ERA General Assembly in October in Spain, where the MUBIH took part in all the activities.

This year, Mountaineering Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina organizes and celebrates 120 years of work. Motto that every association is using this year is: „ 120 years of organized mountaineering in Bosnia and Herzegovina.“
