Mission d'Insertion des Jeunes de la province Sud

Established in 1990, la Mission d'Insertion des Jeunes de la province Sud (MIJ) is an Not For Profit association, whose main objectives are to accompany young people, aged 16 to 26 years, especially unskilled and unemployed ones, to enter easier on work market and more generally to integrate society.

MIJ :
- is settled in the 14 Southern Province towns through 9 agencies,
- welcomes and informs 12.000 people per year. Among them, 8.500 get social and job advice.
- runs a Resource Center for illiteracy: 13% of young global population is illiterate.
- 800 young people are oriented to vocational training skills and continuous education.
- Realize weekly workshops and specific lectures for beneficiaries, leaded by advisors or independent teachers.
- employs 49 persons. Among them, 22 are advisors.
- counts 9 members in its board out of 50 in its General Assembly.
- deals with a 3 Million Euros budget.

MIJ is composed of 2 complementary departments :

- “Pôle Information – Communication - Orientation” : provides information and communication facilities (especially Internet free access), in order to permit young people to search on careers, training, health, prevention, citizenship, environment, culture, sports, leisure, …First step in integration : "access to information".

- “Pôle Mission Locale - Accompagnement vers l'Activité”: counsellors are accompanying young people in their search of integration, qualification skills and job research abilities. Second step in integration: "build my own project".

Besides, in order to find their jobs, young people can use job training periods which can help them to incorporate a company through the experience obtained. Third step in integration: "ready for employment".
