Metropolitan Tirana University

Metropolitan Tirana University is a private institution of higher education with a teaching and scientific orientation. MTU was established in 2010 and consists of three faculties, such as: Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Faculty of Computer Science and IT, Faculty of Economy. The Faculty of Computer Science and IT besides its departments, also has a Scientific Research center.

In all its activities, MTU aims to achieve the highest academic contemporary standards, national or international ones, in the context of increasing the quality of higher education according to European standards, as well as to support the educational aspirations and facilitate achievements for everyone who wants to benefit from higher education in a stimulating environment, promoting and developing scientific research. MTU aspires to train specialists and entrepreneurs of the future by creating, transmitting and developing knowledge through the process of teaching and research.

Metropolitan Tirana University in 2015 established the Metroresearch Center, a Non-Profit Organization which aims to be actively involved in the field of public policies by promoting economic and social development, as well as public education policies at national level. Metroresearch consists of two crucial entities: Metropolitan Incubator and Metropolitan Geospatial Center.

Metropolitan Incubator was established in 2016 and aims to encourage students and young professionals who follow their studies at MTU and not only, in identifying and implementing new ideas in information technology and other areas of expertise. Metropolitan Incubator offers incubation and acceleration services for start-up businesses in ICT and other fields.

Metropolitan Geospatial Center was created as a joint initiative of Metropolitan Tirana University, Metropolitan Incubator and company Gjeo-Vjosa. This Center ensures a regional forum for promoting and facilitating the exchange of geospatial data, aiming to expand the capacity of different actors, to address the common needs of GIZ and to maximize the investment through the collaboration between organizations.

Since 2019, MTU is working to establish the Metropolitan Innovation Center. This center is being established with the support of the EU for Innovation Program in collaboration with EU, GIZ and SIDA. The aim of this center is to address the needs of youth, researchers and SMEs, and offer technological support of their ideas by assessing the needs of Albanian Youth and SMEs, as well as providing the most modern infrastructure for the development of business ideas or improving and growing a business.
