The Mersin Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry operates as a regional branch of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey. The Directorate provides services in agriculture, livestock, aquaculture, crop production, food safety, animal health, rural development, and environmental protection. It functions through 13 district offices and one provincial office across Mersin. Its workforce of 1,148 experts includes agricultural engineers, veterinarians, food engineers, industrial engineers, and technical personnel from various disciplines.
The Directorate's responsibilities include farmer education and support, the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices, ensuring food safety, encouraging environmentally friendly farming methods, and providing entrepreneurial support to youth and women in rural areas. The Mersin Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry aims to contribute to regional development by implementing local, national, and international projects and creating solutions aligned with strategic priorities. It actively develops projects in line with the European Green Deal and Sustainable Development Goals, promoting environmental sustainability, social inclusion, and economic resilience.
