LLEURE ACTIU

Lleure Actiu is a non-profit organization whose main objective is to promote actively a healthy managing of the teenagers' leisure time. The body was founded in 2006 and it was constituted lawful in 2009. Its founders are trained in the formal education sphere -most of them being teachers- and at the same time they also possess an extensive experience in the non-formal education field. Lleure Actiu is the culmination of the hard work in the non-formal education field. It seeks to create an organization with self-legal capacity to put into effect intervention programs in socio-educational, socio-cultural, sport and all the areas related to teenagers. We follow a methodology that is based on educational values.

Lleure Actiu works cooperatively with the Council of Pollença or on its own. At the moment, we are running activities collaborating with the Youth Area of the Council. This has been the source of our idea, which wants to mobilize the teenagers to promote their participation in the EVS. We believe that our society lives in an idle state due to our geographic situation. Majorca is an international touristic destination and this fact causes a lack of interest in the youngsters' abilities and competence. There is a high rate of the population who drop out of school early due to the large amount of staff demanded in hostelry. In Lleure Actiu, we desire that all of them increase their basic and transversal skills and their expertise. Therefore, their employability reaches the same level as the rest of European countries.

Lleure Actiu focuses its projects in the use enhancement of leisure time, the delivery of services among the youth and the promotion of socio-cultural activities. We are convinced that EVS can facilitate our youth to expand their mental and physical borders.
