Konya Food And Agriculture University

The scientific research, technology, education and culture foundation, whose constitution was published in the official gazette numbered with 27751 and dated November 6, 2010, was established in Konya in the name of Konya Sugar Corporation.

According to the decision of our Board of Directors dated November 23, 2010, in accordance with Article 130 of the Constitution of Republic of Turkey, our foundation included the constitution of a university named Konya Food and Agriculture University (KFAU) in Konya and started taking necessary administrative and financial measures for this project. The foundation of KFAU was published in the official gazette dated June 18, 2013 and numbered with 28681.

KFAU currently hosts 9 undergraduate programs and 3 Faculties (Faculty of Agriculture and Naturel Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities) in addition to 2 Graduate Schools (Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Graduate School of Social Sciences,) offering 15 different programs. The medium of instruction in undergraduate programs, where graduate programs are offered both in Turkish and in English, is 100% English. There are currently 397 students enrolled to KFAU and we are continuing to expand while working on internationalization, which is an important aspect of our university. In this context, KFAU has bilateral collaborations with leading universities around the world including Michigan State University, Purdue University, Kyoto University, University of California Davis, Montana State University and University of Missouri. KFAU also features a well-established Coordinatorship of Foreign Languages, which is accredited by BEDAF (British Educational Affairs). Undergraduate students enrolled to KFAU attend to the English preparation school and successful students receive EU Language Passport (Europass) upon the completion of the program. TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate is also offered to students and other individuals with necessary qualifications as an online program.

KFAU is located in Konya, a very safe and peaceful city in the central Anatolia region, right in the centre of Turkey. Chosen as the Tourism Capital of the Islamic World for 2016 by the OIC, Konya is also home to the mausoleum of Mevlâna Jalāl ad-Dīn Rūmī, 13th century Islamic philosopher. Having an inexpensive and high speed train transportation network, Konya is one and a half hour away from the capital city Ankara and four and a half hours away from Istanbul with high speed train. Besides, Konya Airport is another option for connection with other major cities. As for the urban transportation, trams and buses are always at hand at an affordable price.

The core of the KFAU research strategy is composed of the creation of products and applications from the knowledge developed, enabling the knowledge to be utilized for the good of the society in a rapid and solid manner. In order to achieve this goal, a tangible university-industry relation is necessary, which is among the strongest aspects of KFAU. KFAU is in cooperation with Konya Sugar Corporation (frequently ranked as a top 40 firm in Turkey according to its revenues) and AB Holding companies, which are major players in a large variety of sectors including agriculture, food, energy, renewable fuels and plastics. These collaborations are crucial for the process of knowledge conversion into products and bringing the developed products to the market. The strong collaboration of KFAU with the various sectors of the industry also enables KFAU students to gain valuable hands-on experience during their education.
