Kitap Bankosu Association

Kitap Bankosu Association was established in 2012 by the students of different university in order to take the initiative for increasing the number of book readers in Turkey. A step was taken to realize this idea by applying to Turkish National Agency and our project has been awarded with a grant. This Project was also supported by our university and it has paved the way for increasing the number of students who read books within 60 different schools and more than 18000 students in Ankara by the help of 250 volunteers. With our campaign named “Rafta Tozlanmasın Gönder Okuyalım”, we have created libraries in needy schools and hospitals with approximately 60.000 books collected from our benevolent. Addition to these, we have several activities such as book reading, talk shows, autograph sessions, book fair visitings, libraries week organizations, creating awareness for the importance of reading for not only children and youth but also for public.

Our aims for this week is to take rise numbers of volunteers, to increase our portable libraries, to hand out one billion books to 300 thousands students, to plan a special book fair to children and teenagers in Ankara.

To contribute to increasing the literacy rate in Turkey,
To encourage children and young people to gain the habit of reading books,
To gather all the book lovers under a common roof,
To increase the awareness of Turkish literature & pave the way for new poets and authors,
To ensure the flow of information and experience by bringing together youth with authors and poets,
To contribute to the personal development of university students, youths and children
To ensure the recovery of discarded books,
To obtain statistical data about the reading rate and reading habits of people in the society with the help of questionnaires,
To indoctrinate the awareness of social responsibility and volunteerism to university students,
To raise awareness on books and reading in the community through various activities,
To carry out awareness activities in social media,
To organize contests about the books read,
To establish libraries in needy schools,
To organize workshops about children's literature and children's books with the cooperation of educational Sciences academics, children's books authors, pedagogues and teachers,
To carry out joint activities with students of other universities
To organize trips to book fairs,
To improve the capacity of the project by making applications to the grants provided by Ministry of EU and Ministry of Youth and Sports.Kitap Bankosu was established in 2012 by the students studying the department of Statistics, Faculty of Science in Gazi University in order to take the initiative for increasing the number of book readers in Turkey. A step was taken to realize this idea by applying to Turkish National Agency and our project has been awarded with a grant. This Project was also supported by our university and it has paved the way for increasing the number of students who read books within 45 different schools and more than 15000 students in Ankara by the help of 150 volunteers. With our campaign named “Rafta Tozlanmasın Gönder Okuyalım”, we have created libraries in needy schools and hospitals with approximately 40.000 books collected from our benevolent. Addition to these, we have several activities such as book reading, talk shows, autograph sessions, book fair visitings, libraries week organizations, creating awareness for the importance of reading for not only children and youth but also for public.
