Kalimera is a Social Cooperative active in Campania Region (Italy) since 2004. The Cooperative was born through a project financed by the Italian Ministry of the Health (CIPE II project) and was composed by different professionals, including sociologists, psychologists, social workers and youth workers. During the following years other professionals have joined the organisation, offering new important competencies.
The Cooperative aims to operate in the general interest of the community, to promote human and social integration of citizens, especially with regard to situations of social disease due to the various forms of disadvantage, such as drug addictions, disadvantaged families, children at risk of social exclusion, people with mental and physical disabilities, through the management social services at socio-educational and healthcare levels.
At the moment, Kalimera manages several services in the areas of Naples and Salerno.
The Cooperative is characterized by the experimentation and implementation of innovative approaches, mainly focused on the “Socio-therapy”, a methodology based on the following elements:
- Customization of the socio-therapeutic procedure;
- Avoiding the extraction from the social context to which the person with discomfort belongs;
- Rejection of the one-dimensional approach of the social interventions.
The project, in the frame of Daphne Programme, aims to train, educate and inform students, youth workers, volunteers and teachers to fight gender violence
