Jordan Youth Centre is a public after-school educational institution operating within the national Polish educational system. We are the largest youth center in Lesser Poland, run by Municipality of Kraków. Since 1952, we have been supporting Kraków children, parents and schools in our joint effort to provide wise and creative ways of spending free time for children and young people. Our goal is to develop interests, nurture passions, and discover one’s talents and skills.
We run over 250 regular class groups, which attract over 3000 children and youth weekly:
- art and craft (theatre, art, ceramics, photography, animated film, handicrafts and sewing)
- dance and theatre (ballet, contemporary dance, hip-hop, show dance, singing, bass guitar, classical guitar, keyboard, acting song, choir, folk ensemble Małe Słowianki)
- sport (judo, fitness, skiing, swimming and gymnastics, sound laser shooting)
- education and science (preschool, languages, classes in cooperation with universities for teenagers, activities for school groups)
- career guidance and counseling (EURODESK Eurodesk Regional Information Point), social and civic education, intercultural education.
We also organize events, festivals, contests and other activities addressed to children, youth, families, schools, and seniors. Since February 2022, we have been actively working for refugees from Ukraine (humanitarian aid, day care, integration activities and trips, cooperation with schools, summer camps). We have a cinema and film classes.
Our Youth Center have a long tradition of international cooperation. We have partnership with institutions and organizations from all over Europe (including EU and non-EU states). We organize youth exchanges, competitions, meetings, study visits and cultural events. We obtain funding not only from Erasmus+ but also from the Visegrad Fund and government sources. We have Erasmus+ accreditation (KA1) for 2024-2027.
We also manage the Leisure Center in Gołkowice Głórne near Stary Sącz (about 70 km from Kraków, foothill area).
