Join Association of Castrignano de’Greci(LE) is settled in the Province of Lecce in South Italy called SALENTO, an area chracterized by many problems like cultural, economical and geographical. It promote the intercultural dialogue and the fight against racism and xenofobia thanks to the big quantity of project, mainly financed by Youth in Action programme, with which it gives opportunity to young people to discover new cultures and enrich personal European Awareness. Thanks to the experience developed in the sub-region of Salento, we realized how much young people from Salento are highly disadvantaged, more than all the youth who live in the middle of Europe, or even more than the Italian youth living in the north of the Italian Peninsula. The reason is mostly geographic and economic, so thanks to cooperation activities and team-building methodologies, it has been possible to overcome social and cultural barriers and to create an international group able to establishing a common identity, more respectful of everybody from everywhere. Salento region is also recognized by the EU as an area with a Greek linguistic minority.
