IZMIR KATIP CELEBI UNIVERSITY

İzmir Katip Çelebi University (IKCU) was established at 2011. It is a public university. IKCU aims to be one of the leading universities in Turkey with its 12 faculties, 3 graduate schools,
1 vocational school, hospitals, clinics, laboratories, research facilities, internationally recognized dynamic eminent scientists, 100% English medium undergraduate and graduate
programs, and international collaborations. There are 12500 students and 1100 academic staff studying and working at the
University in 3 institute and 20 reasearch centres.
IKCU is established as a state university in 2010. It is located in Izmir, a third biggest city in Turkey. The mission of the IKCU is determined as follows: To increase the welfare of
humanity and to make researches that prioritize solving the problems under the themes, To turn the results of the research into practice, To present its knowledge to the service of the
society.
The main qualifications of a graduate from IKCU can be summarized as follows: Entrepreneur, constantly improving himself, conscious of his rights and responsibilities, competent in
practice and theory. The vision of the IKCU can be best characterized as follows:

In current structure of IKCU, There are ten faculties (Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Faculty of
Fisheries, Faculty of Forestry, Faculty of Health Sciences ,Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Faculty of Medicine ,Faculty of Naval Architecture
and Ocean Engineering, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Tourism and Faculty of Art and Design), two vocational schools, one preparatory school, three institutes (Social, Health and
Applied Sciences). There are more than 13000 students and around 2000 foreign students from all over the World.
IKCU is an active institution in managing Erasmus Projects. The following list demonstrates the current and completed Erasmus projects.
IKCU is willing to provide information, communication and human power at intellectual level to the students to raise a student who will continuously making research and develop
himself to be competitive and to be on the global education platform with up to date information.
IKCU represent very interesting and different ways to address soaring demand for higher education in a globalized world. Each of them has privileged certain activities as a central part
of its internationalization strategy. IKCU has focused on creating a true international cohort of students and has emphasized the establishment of an internationally oriented faculty
body and the development of graduate programs in support of undergraduate education, and It has devoted its efforts to creating an internationally oriented curriculum. This confirms
that there is no one single magic formula recommended for internationalizing our institution, since all depends on each particular case and the needs identified from within. It will be
fascinating to follow the project evolution in the years ahead, specifically the ways in which they are able to innovate considering divergent organizational foundations.
