Italian Society of Fiume

Founded more than 70 years ago, the Italian Society of Fiume is one of the oldest and most experienced Croatian NGOs active in the fields of minority rights, advocacy, and culture. Among its many activities, the ISF regularly organises all sorts of cultural (artistic, musical, literary) events, conferences, and panels that are connected to the local Italian community and other minorities in Croatia. Its more than 4500 members are active in different sections (e.g. the arts and craft section, the theatre section, the choirs, etc.), while the NGO itself is also part of different international research and exchange projects. A special division of the ISF also focuses on teaching Italian as a second language to the local Croatian majority population, as well as teaching Croatian to the numerous Italian expats who move to Rijeka.

We are always on the lookout for new partners, especially those with an interest in human and minority rights, as well as cultural and language exchanges through different types of projects.

We can easily reach interested and proactive people of all ages (youngest to oldest), and we are part of a diverse network that brings together several Italian-language schools, an university department, a professional theatre ensemble, and a publishing house.

We are a newcomer organisation when it comes to EU-funded projects, but are willing to bring our vast experience to the table for all types of projects.
