The International Youth Alliance for Family Planning (IYAFP) is an alliance of young individuals, youth associations, organizations, and communities with a common mission to support provision of comprehensive reproductive health care services with a particular focus on family planning for youth. Our aim is to give young people aged 15-30 around the world an accessible platform to advocate for sexual and reproductive health and rights.
IYAFP enables youth from around the world to contribute a significant voice and lead interventions and decisions on family planning and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and rights. The alliance empowers young people to become global advocates with the skills, knowledge and resources needed to scale up youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health initiatives and services.
IYAFP was born out of the passion and involvement of youth delegates during the International Conference on Family Planning held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in November 2013. With support from the Gates Institute as well as Management Sciences for Health, the youth created this alliance – to hear each other, to support each other, and to continue to learn from each other. Since its inception, the Youth Alliance has grown to include more than 1,200 members and more than 70 country coordinators.
