The Social Cooperative “Il Mosaico” was founded in 1996 to help children with social and educational needs in the municipality of Potenza Picena (MC). Our first aim is to promote initiatives and services for education, learning and social integration. We mainly focus our work on children, youngsters and families lacking social opportunities or from disadvantaged contexts (drugs and alcohol addiction, low educational level, social exclusion, psychiatric disorders, crime, immigration). We also work with children and youngsters with disabilities, special needs and learning difficulties.
The inspiring and guiding idea of our work is that every single person in their diversity and uniqueness, is a fundamental tile in the mosaic of the human relationships. Our main objective is the psychosocial wellbeing for the children, their personal, relational, social and cultural inclusion.
The effort of the projects and the initiatives promoted by “Il Mosaico” is to create an integrated network of social and educational services, in synergy with the educational agencies and environmental resources (family, school, socio-psycho-pedagogical team, social services).

We cooperate with the National Social Assistanc and Health Service, schools and local associations.
Our team is made of psychologists, teachers, professional educators and skilled youth workers.

Our services :

• Social and Educational Day Centre: For primary-school children at risk. Homework is used as a tool to improve their self-esteem and perceived self-efficacy. Our aim is to improve their affective and social skills.
• Home Educational Assistance: For secondary-school youngsters at risk. The assistants help them socialize and improve their educational skills. When it is possible, we try to involve the parents and cooperate with them.
• School Assistance to Children with Special Needs: This service promotes special-need children integration at school or in their free time.
• Individual School Assistance: For children who show learning difficulties due to emotive emotional and familiar issues. Inside the classroom, the assistant helps and supports the student during the lessons.
• Problematic-Families Day Care: To avoid the removal of children from their families with the involvement of Social Services and Juvenile Court, our Cooperative provides the families with professional support in order to keep their children.
• Language Help for Foreign Children: This service provides individual study programmes for learning Italian as a tool for their peer integration.
• Youth Centre: Our Cooperative provides expert youth workers to the Youth Centre of the city, to help the volunteers improve young people socialization and facilitate their relationship with adults.
• Specialized Learning Centre: we provide: psycho-pedagogical counselling for teachers, parents and students, teacher trainings, individual educational projects, pedagogical screening, early diagnosis and treatment of learning disabilities or difficulties.
• Family Centre: Psychological assessments; individual, couple, family or group psychotherapy; “teenager desk".
