Il Jazz va a scuola

The training and workshop proposals we offer are intended to focus attention on and, at the same time, provide some tools to the educators and young people, on freedom of expression, the search for beauty and the
right to live and express emotions. IJVAS aims to promote paths of development and promotion on issues of
creativity related to musical language and increase the implementation of networks of exchange and collaboration between different territories and socio-cultural realities; build networks that connect entities operating in the national/international landscape.
The IJVAS Association has been operating in Italy since 2019 and is dedicated to promoting jazz and ù improvised music in schools of all levels, in contexts
extracurricular educational settings through the nationwide organization of workshops, research projects, collaboration with school to build musical ensembles, research projects with universities,
conferences, round tables, webinars, teacher and student training. They mention, for example, actions related to music in relation to the environment in collaboration with the most accredited entities in the field related to the circular bioeconomy, collaboration with University of Padua Department of Education Sciences; collaboration with "Casa Cenci" educational and artistic research laboratory of Franco Lorenzoni, collaboration in research projects linguistic-musical with writer Bruno Tognolini, collaboration with the project "l'Arte dei bambini" promoted by the Dis-order Mosaicists Association of Ravenna and the University of Bologna. IJVAS cooperates with the Ministry of Education in territorial projects and in the Plan Arts.
In 2022, thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture and the City of L'Aquila, he started a Youth Orchestra, named “L'orchestra che vorrei” in L'Aquila, aimed at the dissemination of jazz culture and practice. In 2023, thanks to the Support of the Ministry of Culture and the collaboration of two territorial associations, namely ALGOS of Catania and ONYX Jazz Club of Matera, it gave birth to a virtuous model both in cultural and social spheres by creating a bridge between Basilicata and Sicily.
IJVAS conceived, supported, sponsored and led the artistic direction aimed at the younger generation - Umbria Jazz 4 Kids, Time to Children (included in the international festival Time in Jazz www.timeinjazz.it) and Time to Campus, funded by the Department for Family Policies of the Council of Ministers - with which it continues, on an ongoing basis, a close relationship. IJVAS conceived the project “Jazz Goes to School with Paolo Fresu and Gegè Telesforo. Musicians Meet the New Generation,” which is aimed at young students and is led by great artists of jazz music who, in their
mission of being an artist, recognize the great educational function of music. The meetings take place in educational institutions, auditoriums, theaters
theaters and music venues and involve pupils from Comprehensive Institutes of the national territory. In 2024, “International Jazz Day” was organized: a day of concerts, jam sessions, meetings, presentations, and award ceremonies featuring multiple generations of Musicians representing the creative vitality of the jazz scene, with the educational mission of engaging in a generational cross over.
