IAAS is a non-profit, non-partisan, non-govermental students' organization. It was founded in 1957 in Tunis from 8 countries and at the moment gathers active students from 50 countries around the world among them are China, Australia, USA and Chile.
Our mission is: "To promote the exchange of experience, knowledge and ideas, and to improve the mutual understanding between students in the field of agriculture and related sciences."
We are the largest organization for students in Agriculture and Related Sciences in the world.
Our main activities are:
EDM (European Directors Meeting),
ADM(African Directors Meeting),
DMA(Directors Meeting of the Americas) and
APDM(Asian - Pasific Directors Meeting) are the regional meetings which take place in different regions.
They last a week and they are divided in two parts, one is the agricultural part with lectures/excursions on a specific theme and the other is the IAAS part with trainings on leadership skills, communication, fundraising, workshops about IAAS, presentations of reports and teambuilding activities between participants.
Exchange weeks which take place between 3-4 countries. They last usually a week where IAAS members through different activities get to know the culture and agriculture of a country they are invited in, share about their countries with the rest of the participants and bond with each other.
Seminars are the same as exchange weeks but have participants from more countries.
