I Nobili Tamburi

"NOBILI TAMBURI" is a cultural and social improvement association based in Piazza Sanfilippo, 6 - 92025 Casteltermini (AG) C.F. 93073630845.
It was started in February 2016 as part of the project "Young protagonists of themselves and their territory (CreAZIONI giovani)" - area of action n. 2 - Project "I TAMBURI DELLA TRADIZIONE", financed by the region of Sicily and the Ministry Of Youth.
The association promotes the intangible cultural heritage of traditional drums, as a starting-point for the creation of new networks and occupations.
Its goals are:
• Promotion, enhancement and implementation of ancient crafts, customs, traditions of its territory;
• Enhancement of each resource that could represent an opportunity of innovation in terms of cultural and editorial skills;
• Publication of magazines, newsletters, newspapers, books, brochures;
• conference proceedings, seminars, studies and research, educational materials;
• Dissemination through roundtables, conferences, lectures, exhibitions, study days, workshops competitions, award ceremonies, seminars, festivals, events, exhibitions and shows in general, and also using the new information and multimedia technologies;
• Promotion and dissemination of culture, custom and art through an active and collective participation
At the moment, the association NOBILI TAMBURI is engaged in the performance of its project "I TAMBURI DELLA TRADIZIONE", as part of the projects APQ LINE 2, financed by the Region of Sicily, the Family Department and in partnership with the Department of Youth, the Ministry Of Youth and the Civil Service.
This training course entitled "The tradition of the Drums" plans to recover and encode the empirical knowledge of the "tammurinara castelterminesi" masters (drum players) about the construction techniques of the instrument and the analysis of its historical origins, the acoustic and mechanical characteristics, the construction techniques and the performance practices.
The project aims to transmit every knowledge of the drum world, through theoretical and practical lessons of handmade construction, as well as notions related to performance practice of historical research, documentation and multimedia design.
