HECANSA

HECANSA is a public company of the Government of the Canary Islands (Regional Ministry of Tourism) whose objective is to contribute to the strengthening of the competitiveness of the tourism sector in the Canary Islands, through training and promoting the professionalization of its human resources and its companies. HECANSA has 3 School Hotels open to the public: 1) the Hotel Escuela Santa Cruz in the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (island of Tenerife), 2) the Hotel Escuela Santa Brígida, in the town of Santa Brígida (the island of Gran Canaria); 3) the Hotel Escuela Rural Casa de Los Herrera (the island of La Gomera). The latter also has a Rural Hotel: the Hotel La Casa de los Camellos (island of Gran Canaria). In February 2017, a School Restaurant reopened in Melenara on the Island of Gran Canaria. All of them are establishments open to the public and are training canters for HECANSA students.

HECANSA provides professional training, incorporating new professionals into the labour market of the tourism sector. It also carries out training the exchange of experiences and dissemination of best practices to professionals who currently provide service in the sector, covering all areas of the tourism professions, from assistants to managers in all the islands.

HECANSA has been providing professional training programs since 2005. In addition to being a public company, we are a private professional training educational centre, attached to the Regional Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands, where we teach both intermediate and higher degree cycles.

In 2013/2014 HECANSA implemented the Dual Vocational Training system in all its programs. The foreign languages taught at its centers are English and German.

Since its creation in 1992, HECANSA has established permanent agreements with hotel chains and establishments inside and outside the European Union so that its students can carry out their compulsory internships abroad, in order to favour and increase student mobility and promote the practice of other languages, as a vehicle for learning about other cultures and job placement in the tourism sector.
